Here at Source we pride ourselves on the comfort and quality of our hiking sandals. As a change from our usual blog posts, I thought I’d take a few minutes to give you, our customers, some helpful information and hints for choosing the right hiking sandals for yourself or others. Even if you’ve bought them before, you can use this check list before placing your order so you will know what to look for when choosing hiking sandals.
Sizing
Since adventure sandals only come in whole sizes it may be tempting to go a size down because of the open design. However, if your feet fall in between sizes, it is better to choose the larger sandals because the extra material past the toes will protect feet somewhat from rocks and twigs. This applies to both hiking sandals for men and hiking sandals for women.
Soles
If you are hiking in wet or damp conditions, the Source A.R.T2 rubber outsole is an added bonus. It’s extremely slip resistant, and along with our special rubber compound and large contact area design, ensures firm grip on all terrain.
Straps
Our straps are designed to suit all weather conditions. They are made from polypropylene, a highly durable material that dries much faster than the nylon/polyester used by other companies.
Straps should also be easily adjustable. Our X-Strap® Patent is a unique strap system with 6 anchoring points. The heel and the arch straps are independent of one another, for a perfect secured fit.
If you go on serious hikes and you wish to avoid chafing, you should choose hiking sandals with padding for extra comfort (Gobi Men, Gobi Women, Stream Sport).
Overall Design
Our trek sandals feature rubber footbeds to prevent feet from slipping and sliding inside the sandal.
Anti-microbial agent integrated permanently into the upper soles of our sandals helps ensure the sandals are odor free throughout the life of the product.
Our sandals have a lightweight design, a feature you’ll appreciate while taking both short and long hikes.
I hope this post has helped with your questions. Feel free to contact us with any questions or queries you may have about your hiking sandals. Happy hiking!
