Adventure racing Team Silva has competed internationally since 2003 and has taken a second place and three third places at the World Championships.
Adventure racing is a demanding endurance sport, in which teams compete in sports such as mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, climbing and orienteering. The races are between 6 hours and 6 days and go on day and night, non-stop. Adventure racing impose extremely high requirements on both participants and equipment. Most of the adventure races are conducted by four person teams with three guys and a girl where the whole team together completes all stages of the race course.
We have chosen to use high quality hydration products from Source. The Source Widepac 2 and 3 liter are used in the life jackets and the backpacks.
The large opening is really great, it makes the bladders easy to fill, clean and dry. The closure is quick and easy to open and most important, not leaking!
We normally fill up the whole teams’ bladders at once and thanks to the non-return valve on the bladder, the hose can be left in place on the life jackets (or backpacks) and only the bladders are removed and refilled. The nozzle is also lockable, which is an advantage when transporting a filled bladder.
When we have fully packed backpacks, we use the WLP bladder which gives a more even pressure against your back. A full bladder can otherwise cause the backpack to wobble on your back because of the “ballooning effect”.
When we need to ensure that cell phone or GPS stays dry, we use seal flex neck from Source. Thanks to the incredibly easy sealing, we also use it to store the camera when we are out kayaking. The camera is then fast and easy to take out to take photos.
