We’re always happy to learn about adventures with SOURCE Hydration Systems – especially if the pictures look as unique as Petra’s shots from mid-air.
In spring, Petra, a passionate paraglider pilot based in Germany, got in touch with us, stating how happy she is with her SOURCE Hydration System – except that the standard length tube is too short for her paraglider rig. For comfortable use we supplied a 1.5meter (5 feet) custom made drinking tube, to upgrade her Hydration System. Thanks to the SOURCE Quick Connect feature (connecting/disconnecting drinking tube and valve without leaking), replacing the tube with a longer one was no technical issue.
Now with the enhanced SOURCE Hydration System, Petra reports much more comfortable access to her drinking valve during her flights of up to 2 hours and 50km of distance. She usually carries 2 to 3 liters of water, always happy to have some left for the way home. Depending on the landing-spot it can mean hiking for some time after landing.
Just recently she sent us pictures from Chile (see below) where she was enjoying the paragliding-season with pilots covering hundreds of KM in flights up to 9 hours of duration. While hot temperatures are usually not an issue for paragliders – Petra’s highest flight took her to 3,347m above sea level in chilly temperatures below zero – hydration is a key concern for any longer flight.
Our developers were curious to see the custom-made drinking tube installed, and these are the great pictures Petra provided. Notice the blue weave covered SOURCE Hydration drinking tube and the orange SOURCE Helix Bite Valve!
