‘Gladiator’ on two wheels, Hannes Slavik, with his outlook on the coming season, starting these days with the crazy spectacular Down-Mall-Series in Germany and Eastern Europe. Stay with him on Facebook – we’re looking forward to yet again a thrilling season!
“New year, new season but still the same happy smile on my face because i am very thankfull that i can race whatever and wherever I want to. I am glad to be able to pick the most interessting races of a few different disciplines.
My season is about to start next week, so its time for a short preview! Winter still rules in front of our doors, so we have to race inside again. Sounds boooring … not if the Downmall Series stops in Budapest, Bratislava and Prague. Corners, jumps, stairs and a happy shopping girlfriend – nothing more to say about this new discipline all of us are stocked to race again during this time of the year. The riders’ area becomes a crazy laboratory, where every rider tries to increase his grip on the slippery polished mall-floors with sprays and resins. I am quite sure the cleaning staff hates us for that.
After those three Downmal Races there is another two months preparation time before the summer season starts. Some sad news droped in two weeks ago with the official canceling of the European Enduro Series and unfortunately also some special DH Events. So now i have to find some other Enduro races that fit into my schedule. Surely the Sram Series will be back in focus here in Europe, so that would be a good call.
Again my focus is on the 4x Pro Tour Events and i definitely have something to finish in Val di Sole at the 2016 4x World’s. After winning the qualification and all my heats into the finals i got shot down on the leading position three corners before the finish line last year!
I’ll be showing up at some national BMX Races and if nothing unforeseen comes up i want to race the European BMX Championship in Verona this year. Last but not least I have to wait for the City DH date to complete my season racing plan…
Besides all the weekends on the race tracks I will also lead the DH Camp from Vienna’s Sport Institut University and some Nationalteam BMX Camps. Right now it seems like there will be a nice race break in August which will be used for some photo and video shoots.
Hope you all enjoy your passion as much as i do. All the best and stay hydrated 😉
