Hannes Slavik, SOURCE MTB Enduro and BMX gladiator, and his protege Vanessa submit feedback on their new 2016 hydration packs. Thanks to Hannes for his thoughts on the Hipster Hydration Belt, which he’s been riding for a few months now. And read Vanessa’s take on the Ride 15L Pack in part 2 of our 2016 Packs Riders Opinion blogposts.
“I am riding for Source Hydration for a few years now and it’s always a highlight to visit their stand at the Eurobike, to see what they have planned for the upcoming season. Of course i was there last year as well, and I had a first meeting with the Hipster Hydration Belt some months ago. The Hipster was something really new to me and to be honest, at first I had my doubts if it works out on the trail. I just couldn’t imagine what this new invention would feel like while shredding some lines. Some time went by and for sure I became more and more curious and impatient to test it personally.
As a racer it’s awesome to not really feel it and to have your shoulders totally free …
Before I got to test it, i was thinking: For sure the hipster opens some new and interesting options to carry just the most important things with you when you go for a ride. But the weight of an empty Source Pack is so low anyway …
Now that I have spent time on the trails with my Hipster Hydration Belt, i can say first of all: you will love that it covers your hip from wind while your back is getting some more air – and you just don’t sweat that much on the uphills. Sounds girly but believe me: the pack’s fit is brilliant. As a racer it’s awesome to not really feel it and to have your shoulders totally free.
With the Hipster you just don’t sweat that much on the uphills …
It’s truly perfect for a ride on the home trail or on days you just want to take the most important things with you to go faster.
For me as a MTB coach and guide besides my racing carrier it’s also perfect to carry my first aid kit with me while riding Bike Parks or Trails with my course participants. Take some weight off your shoulders and try something new!”
