Launching the Hipster Hydration Belt last season, we knew we had an excellent, well thought out and extensively tested product – still, would athletes be open to our ideas? Would they embrace the new look and feel? Would the riders and runners be ready for this new concept of carrying hydration? The answer: Yes!
Our developers had worked on the new product for years, in cooperation with ultra endurance runners and bikers, taking our prototypes to the extreme, suggesting changes and improvements in details a regular user doesn’t even notice (especially now, that all these details are perfectly thought through)… And the work payed off: we’ve seen an incredible first season last year. The only problem in the Hipster’s first season was, that we weren’t quick enough to re-stock for some time in early and mid-season. We had to ask buyers for a few weeks of patience, to manufacture more packs.
Early in the season, Enduro MTB’s DI Award set the tone, awarding the Design & Innovation award for our Hipster Hydration Belt. Countless reviews and comments from Hipster riders followed all through the season.
As Vital MTB stated in their Hipster review “the fanny pack has become a part of the enduro uniform”. Vital loved the size and the fit, also the bladder that “despite our unsanitary habits, it hasn’t caused an issue” thanks to SOURCE Hydration System Low Maintenance technology. They closed noting that they didn’t wear the (removable) harness – which indeed depends on your build, riding style and personal preference – but that they would keep it around for their Oktoberfest costume.
Mountain Bike Mags around the globe tested and reviewed the Hipster, delivering a lot of praise and positive feedback. British Biking Mag Factory Jackson reviewed the Hipster and found “it’s about as minimal as you can get, but still carries the basics and is barely noticeable when adjusted correctly.”
For Anna at Bikesoup, the Hipster even improved her riding as “it helped improve my balance on aggressive descents”. The bottom line of her thorough product review on Bikesoup: “No matter how rough the terrain gets, the Hipster stays put, and keeps all the weight off of my shoulders and down through the pedals.”
And most importantly, not only the pros have good things to say. After 1 year of Hipster the customer reviews on Amazon and in our own shop start piling up. “This pack is great and perfect …” – “Love this pack!” – “Bought this as a gift for my brother and he loves it.” – “Once riding you do almost forget you are carrying a pack.” – “The pack stays in place well even through very rough terrain.”
Keep it coming, send us your feedback – as a reaction to your comments we improved the Hipster in smallest details, like a new stronger version of the magnet holding the hose – and we’re looking forward to start the 2017 season with the Hipster Hydration Belt, and of course all SOURCCE Hydration Packs to keep you hydrated on the move!
