Are you comparing our WXP to the Low Profile to the standard Widepac – and you just want them all..? Here’s a few thoughts to help you pick one (or two).
It all started with our popular Widepac™ hydration bladder, and over the years we added new shapes, features and accessories for your convenience. Different bladders for different needs – that’s the name of the game. At the core is our SOURCE Hydration Technology that makes all the difference: Water stored in a SOURCE hydration pack stays fresh for days and even weeks – with no plastic taste thanks to our GlassLike™ and GrungeGuard™ Technology. The patented Wideslide™ wide opening makes filling, cleaning and draining the bladder easier than ever – and it is 100% leakproof (want to know more: What Makes Our Reservoirs Better Bladders?).
The Original: The Widepac
The Widepac is our first and original SOURCE Hydration System. Its design was copied by other brands, and this innovative, successful water bladder became the template based on which all future Source Hydration Systems were developed. It set a new standard for hydration solutions around the world. Until today, the Widepac is a bestseller and a favorite of many athletes adventurers and hikers due to its great usability and low maintenance.
Low Profile: The Widepac LP
Take the original Widepac and add a vertical baffle wall in the middle: the Widepac LP keeps its low profile, at any filling level, meaning the water is evenly distributed over a wider area and thus optimizes storage space and weight distribution in your backpack. – So, if this is an upgrade to the original Widepac, why do we keep making the older model? Because for many of our customers the original Widepac is the Gold Standard of hydration bladders, and as it’s hanging in your pack’s hydration compartment, there’s not that much bulging anyways, even without the baffle wall.
Upgrade to SOURCE: The WXP LP
Now take the Widepac LP and add a screwcap opening. The WXP LP is compatible with most hydration backpacks (made by our competitors) with an opening for a screwcap. So this makes this THE appropriate choice to upgrade your hydration backpack – whatever brand it may be – to ‘SOURCE Inside’. Promise: Once you’ve used SOURCE, you’ll never go bak.
2 in 1: The D|vide
D|vide the Widepac by 2: The Divide offers two separate compartments for two drinks (e. g. pure water + isotonic drink), available at all times. The flexible compartments add up to the full capacity of the bladder. This is the perfect choice for long-distance and endurance athletes that prefer the isotonic drink and water separated – but don’t want to carry additional gear.

Made For Hipsters: The Hipster Widepac
For our Hipster Waist Pack we developed a bladder that fits ergonomically on the lower back of bike-riders and runners. With its wings to the side and low profile shape, the Hipster Widepac it’s not going to fit your backpack – but our friend Markus Stitz for example fits this bladder in his Epidura bike-frame pack. Definitely a product made to get creative with!
The Helix Bite Valve
All SOURCE Hydration Systems come with our popular Helix Bite Valve. Wonder how it works? Check out our blogpost about the ins and outs of a bite valve.
